Maharashtra’s oldest and the largest National Park, Tadoba National Park, also known as the Tadoba Andhri Tiger Reserve is a great escape for tourists from all over the world as well as visitors passing through the area. The Park encompasses an area of 1727 sq kms and is in the Chandrapur district of Maharashtra. Created in 1955, this Park has been the favorite tourist destination for wildlife lovers.

How to reach ?
- By Train –The nearest railway station is at Chandrapur district, which is 45 kms away from the park. Government buses and taxis are available to facilitate travel to the park from the railway station. The railway line is connected to major cities like Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Jhansi.
- By Road –There are ample state transport available from Nagpur, Mumbai, Pune, Jalgaon to Chandrapur (45 kms away from the park) and Chimur (32 kms away from the park). Local taxis can be hired to reach the park from these locations.
- By Air – The nearest airport to the park is situated at Nagpur, which is 140 kms away from the reserve. Flights from Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata fly frequently to Nagpur.
Things to do
Jeep Safari
Tadoba National Park is a place of different moods. If you want to experience the wild and windswept, you must consider the jeep safari to experience the stunning scenery and witness the royal tigers in its own habitat. This is the largest tiger reserve in the state and the most preferred reserve across the country. This southern dry deciduous forest is home to barking deer, Chital, Sambars, Chausinga, sloth bear, Indian Bison, Nilgai, wild dog, leopard, and wild boar.
Both open top Gypsy and jeeps are available for safaris. Private vehicles, along with a forest guide are also allowed. Morning safari starts from 6 AM and ends at 10 am. The afternoon safari happens go on from 2 PM to 6 PM.
Best time to visit
Though the tropical climate makes winter (November – January)the better season to visit the park, the best season to spot tigers is during the hotter months, April to May. If flora is the goal, post monsoon is a good time as the park is filled with lush green flowers.
