About Kaziranga National park :

Kaziranga National Park, located in the Indian state of Assam, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a wildlife enthusiast’s paradise. Spanning over an area of approximately 430 square kilometers, the park is renowned for its remarkable biodiversity and is home to the largest population of the endangered Indian one-horned rhinoceros. In addition to rhinos, the park is a haven for various other wildlife species, including tigers, elephants, wild water buffaloes, and numerous bird species.

Timings:

Kaziranga National Park is open for visitors from November to April. The park operates in two shifts:

Morning Shift: 7:30 AM to 11:00 AM

Afternoon Shift: 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM

 

Safari Types :

To explore the wilderness of Kaziranga National Park, visitors have the option of choosing from various safari types:

Jeep Safari: Jeep safaris are the most popular way to explore the park. Accompanied by a knowledgeable guide, you can embark on an exhilarating ride through the park’s designated trails and get a chance to spot the diverse wildlife.

Elephant Safari: For a unique and up-close experience, opt for an elephant safari. Riding on the back of an elephant, you can traverse through the tall grasslands and marshes, offering a closer encounter with the wildlife, especially the one-horned rhinoceros.

How to Reach Kaziranga National Park:

By Air: The nearest airport to Kaziranga National Park is the Jorhat Airport, which is approximately 97 kilometers away. From the airport, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to reach the park.
 
By Rail: The closest railway station to Kaziranga National Park is the Furkating Junction, situated around 75 kilometers away. Regular trains connect Furkating to major cities in India. From the railway station, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to reach the park.
 
By Road: Kaziranga National Park is well-connected by road. You can take a bus or hire a taxi from Guwahati, which is approximately 217 kilometers away, or other nearby towns like Jorhat and Tezpur.
 

What to Visit:

Central Range: The Central Range is the most accessible and popular range of Kaziranga National Park. It offers excellent wildlife sightings, including rhinos, elephants, deer, and various bird species.

Eastern Range: The Eastern Range provides a unique landscape with wetlands, grasslands, and woodlands. It is known for its birdlife and offers a chance to spot tigers and wild buffaloes.

Western Range: The Western Range is famous for its scenic beauty and is an ideal place for birdwatching. It also offers sightings of rhinos, elephants, and other wildlife.

Bagori Range: The Bagori Range is the westernmost range of the park and is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna. It is known for its picturesque views and offers opportunities for both jeep and elephant safaris.
